How this course works
During the course you will have a new lesson every day for 5 days.
Each lesson is made up of some introductory text and a video or audio recording of a mindfulness practice. These can be streamed from mobile or desktop.
The course takes just 15 minutes a day to complete and there are no assignments. You will have the opportunity try out the 3 different kinds of mindfulness practices we offer on longer courses:
Formal Mindfulness Practice
Everyday Mindfulness
Mini Mindfulness Practice
At the end of the course there are links to free and paid resources from reputable individuals and organisations offering mindfulness based approaches and services. I hope it is of help to you.
Why I made this course
I’m Susan and I’m a Registered Social Worker and Mindfulness Teacher. Following a head injury some years ago, my life changed and these days I’m an independent trainer and consultant with a mission to ‘help the helpers’ find simple ways take care of themselves too. Us helping types don’t always find this easy, but we all need to do it, even if it’s kicking and screaming all the way😊
Most of my work is with councils & third sector organisations where I teach a variety of mindfulness based approaches, in person and online. I'm often asked to open access to my courses for social workers and helping professionals as individuals & outside of the work setting. I originally offered a test version of this course to 100 social workers as part of the free work I do each year. Now I’m able to make it available more widely for anyone who needs it.
My intention with this mini-course is to enable those of you who are curious about mindfulness to try it out in a simple and accessible way, and from the comfort of your own home. By the end of the 5 days, you will know if mindfulness is ‘a fit’ for you, and maybe even have a little rest and relaxation along the way.
Feedback on Mindfulness Courses
-
I have gained the real ability to take a step back, even if for a few moments and to focus on the calmness of my surroundings, which in turn helps me to get to the bottom of some of the families meanings and focus on our families one at a time, rather than everything swimming around together

The trainer showed a high level of personal commitment to facilitating the course, and the structure of each session was helpful in creating a calm and reflective space for the participants to learn about and experience the benefits of mindfulness practice.

Each of the sessions was a very rewarding chance to step back from the hectic day-to-day nature of our work and think about how we can be better prepared for the difficult situations we face
